How to start a YouTube channel in Kenya
Set the channel up for Kenyan search from day one
Open the channel on your own Google account, set Kenya as the country in Studio, verify with a Kenyan mobile number, and write the name and description in the English-Swahili-Sheng mix Kenyan viewers actually search.
English, Swahili or Sheng, decided before the name
Kenyans search in English with Swahili and Sheng mixed in. An English name with the niche in it ("Nairobi Hustle Stories") is found most often; Sheng works in titles and thumbnails.
Set the channel country to Kenya
Studio → Settings → Channel → Basic info → Country of residence. This is what YouTube checks against the availability lists and what AdSense expects the payment address to match.
2-Step Verification and advanced features
Turn on 2-Step Verification on the Google account, then verify the channel with a Kenyan mobile number (Safaricom, Airtel and Telkom all receive the code) to get advanced features.
A handle people can say on a matatu
Short, no numbers, matches the channel name. It appears on every Short and in every WhatsApp status share.
Description in the words viewers search
Write it with the phrases people type ("how to make money online Kenya", "Nairobi apartment tour", "Harambee Stars reaction"), and name the upload days.
First five videos as one series
Five videos on one promise tell YouTube exactly who to show you to. Mixing skits, farming and vlogs in week one tells it nothing.
Phone-first equipment
A mid-range Android, a clip-on mic and daylight beat a camera you cannot replace; clear audio matters more than resolution on bundled data.
Upload defaults
Set video language to English (or Swahili), the caption language, and the location. Default to public and schedule for 7–10 pm EAT.
Study a channel in your niche with the Channel Analyzer before you pick a name, then draft your first titles with the Video Title Generator. Full setup walkthrough: how to start a YouTube channel.
Best YouTube niche in Kenya
Niches that grow and pay for Kenyan audiences
The niches growing in Kenya in 2026 are comedy skits, Gengetone and music reactions, football, farming and agribusiness, real estate, side hustles and online income, cooking, travel, tech and fintech, and faith content. Earning potential is qualitative and depends on how much of the audience is outside Kenya.
Comedy skits
Medium earning potentialSheng-driven skits travel on WhatsApp and TikTok before YouTube; recurring characters build subscribers.
Gengetone and music reactions
High earning potentialEvery release creates a search spike; diaspora viewers watch reactions from the UK and US.
Football (EPL and Harambee Stars)
Medium earning potentialThe national conversation; reactions rank within minutes of full time.
Farming and agribusiness
Medium earning potentialHigh-intent rural and peri-urban audience; poultry, dairy and greenhouse guides rank for years.
Real estate and Nairobi living
High earning potentialRent, plots and relocation-within-Kenya content has high intent and few serious channels.
Side hustles and online income
High earning potentialSearched constantly by a young, mobile-first audience; fintech advertisers pay well.
Kenyan cooking
Medium earning potentialUgali, nyama choma and chapati recipes rank at home and with the diaspora.
Travel and coast content
High earning potentialDiani, Maasai Mara and road-trip content reaches both Kenyans and foreign tourists; English versions earn higher RPM.
Tech and fintech
High earning potentialPhones, data bundles, M-Pesa tips and crypto explainers pull high-intent viewers.
Faith and motivation
Low earning potentialLarge, loyal audience with long watch sessions and strong Super Thanks behaviour.
Earning potential is qualitative (Low / Medium / High) and reflects advertiser demand and audience country, not a figure any channel will earn.
Saturated locally: generic skit compilations, celebrity gossip reuploaded from TikTok, and "make money online" channels without a product. The audience is large but the videos are interchangeable, so watch time per video stays low.
Low local competition: county-level content outside Nairobi, Swahili-first explainers of KRA, NHIF and SHA, trade skills (welding, tiling, phone repair), and plain-English guides to Kenyan systems for newcomers and the diaspora.
Local audience or global audience? English content on Kenyan travel, music and tech reaches UK, US and East African viewers, whose views are paid at higher rates. Sheng and Swahili content grows faster inside Kenya. Many Kenyan channels run English titles with Sheng delivery and diaspora-friendly topics such as remittances, land and coming home.

How to get views and subscribers in Kenya
Grow from Kenyan audiences
Kenyan viewers search in English with Sheng hooks, watch on mobile between 7 and 10 pm EAT, and share through WhatsApp status, so English search phrases, Sheng thumbnail text, EPL and festive-season timing and an in-frame channel name do most of the work.
Titles and keywords in the words Kenyan viewers type
Kenyans search in English but click on Sheng. Put the search phrase first and the hook second, keep titles under 60 characters so they survive a WhatsApp preview, and write the thumbnail text in Sheng where the title is in English.
How to Get Monetized on YouTube in Kenya (2026 Rules)
The highest-volume monetization query with the country; the year signals freshness.
How I Receive My YouTube Money in Kenya — Hakuna Stress
Search phrase first, Sheng reassurance second; the exact query Kenyans type before their first payment.
New Gengetone Drop REACTION — Hii Ni Moto!
Genre and format carry the search; the Sheng exclamation is the click.
Nairobi Bedsitter Tour: What KSh 8,000 Gets You in 2026
City, type and a figure Kenyans recognise.
Kuku Farming: Real Costs of 500 Broilers (Month 1)
Swahili keyword, a countable promise and a time frame.
Vitu za Nairobi matatu pekee
Full Sheng for Shorts, where the feed, not search, delivers the view.
Paste a topic into the YouTube Keyword Generator to see the exact phrases searched from Kenya, then write the title with the Video Title Generator.
Thumbnails that work for Kenyan viewers
Big faces with a clear expression, three or four words of Sheng or English, and colours that survive a cracked screen at low brightness. Avoid tiny screenshots and more than two people in frame.
Make the thumbnail in the Thumbnail Maker and run it through the Thumbnail Analyzer, which scores your thumbnail before you upload so you can compare two versions side by side.
Posting time in East Africa Time (EAT)
Kenyan viewing peaks from 7 to 10 pm EAT on weekdays, with a second peak on Sunday afternoons. UK viewers are two or three hours behind and US East Coast viewers seven or eight hours behind, so a 8 pm EAT upload reaches London at dinner and New York at lunch. The Best Time to Post tool reads your own channel's viewer activity by hour and day, which beats any general rule once you have a few weeks of data.
Local trends, festivals and sport
The EPL calendar, Safari Rally in March, Madaraka Day on 1 June, back-to-school in January, May and September, the Finance Bill in June, Mashujaa Day on 20 October, Jamhuri Day on 12 December and the December festive season are the reliable spikes. Publish a festive-season video two weeks early so it ranks before the peak.
Community posts and comments in the audience's language
Reply in the language the comment used. Community posts in Sheng get more replies than polished English announcements; polls about the next skit character or the next hustle keep viewers between uploads.
Collaborations with Kenyan creators at your size
Collaborate with creators at your size in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu or Nakuru rather than chasing the biggest names. Two 3,000-subscriber channels swapping appearances each gain a new audience; creator WhatsApp groups are where these start.
Playlists and end screens
Group videos into playlists named with the search phrase, not a clever title, so the playlist itself ranks. Put the next video in the series on the end screen; a session that continues on your channel is the strongest signal you can send.
What the algorithm actually rewards
YouTube recommends videos that viewers watch for longer, rate as satisfying in surveys, and come back to. It does not reward upload frequency on its own, tags on their own, or keyword stuffing. Read the plain-language breakdown in the YouTube algorithm guide and check each upload with the Video SEO Checker before it goes live.
YouTube Shorts in Kenya
Shorts as a monetization lane for Kenyan creators
Shorts in Kenya reach the fan-funding tier at 3 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days and full monetization at 10 million, counted as engaged views; they spread through WhatsApp status, so the channel name belongs in the frame.
- 3 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days for the fan-funding tier; 10 million for full monetization.
- Qualified means engaged views: the viewer stays past the first seconds, and loops are not counted.
- Engaged views sit in YouTube Analytics and run below the dashboard view count.
- From 1 February 2027 new applicants for ad revenue need 20 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days.
- 3,000 qualified public watch hours in 12 months for the fan-funding tier; 4,000 for full monetization.
- Public uploads, podcasts and archived live streams count; Shorts watch time does not.
- Hours are checked over a rolling 12 months, so old public videos keep contributing.
- From 1 February 2027 new applicants for ad revenue need 8,000 qualified watch hours in 365 days.
A channel qualifies on whichever lane it fills first. Kenyan audiences are phone-first and data-conscious, which makes the Shorts lane realistic for skit, music and football channels, while long-form still carries almost all of the ad revenue.
Local Shorts tactics
- Put the @handle in the frame for the whole Short; a clip that travels on WhatsApp status without it earns views for nobody.
- Use trending Gengetone, Afrobeats and amapiano sounds within the first week; the audio page is a discovery surface.
- Hashtags in English plus one Sheng or Swahili tag (#kenyancomedy #nairobi #hustle) rather than ten generic ones.
- Keep file sizes small and audio clear: many viewers are on bundled data, and a Short that buffers is swiped away before it counts.
- Post Shorts daily during the EPL season and December, and point each one at a long-form video in the pinned comment.
Shorts RPM is far lower than long-form everywhere (third-party benchmarks put it around 0.03–0.15 USD per 1,000 views), so treat Shorts as the lane that builds subscribers and feeds long-form, not as the main earner. Read how Shorts monetization works for the revenue-share rules.
Write hashtags in your audience's language with the Shorts Tags Generator, pick a title with the Shorts Title Generator, see what is rising in Trending Shorts Ideas and score each Short with the Shorts SEO Checker.
YouTube monetization requirements in Kenya
Requirements and the 1 February 2027 change
In Kenya you can join the YouTube Partner Program at 1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 qualified watch hours or 10 million qualified Shorts views; the fan-funding tier at 500 subscribers is also available. From 1 February 2027 new applicants for ad revenue need 8,000 hours or 20 million Shorts views.
| Requirement | Fan funding and Shopping (500 subscribers) | Full monetization (1,000 subscribers) |
|---|---|---|
| Subscribers | 500 | 1,000 |
| Long-form path | 3,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months | 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months |
| Shorts path | 3 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days | 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days |
| Public uploads | 3 in the last 90 days | Not required |
| Earns from | Memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers, Super Thanks, Jewels and gifts, Shopping | Everything in the fan-funding tier plus ad revenue and YouTube Premium revenue |
| Both tiers also need | Monetization-policy compliance, YPP availability in the channel's country, no active Community Guidelines strike, 2-Step Verification, advanced features access, one active AdSense for YouTube account | Same |
Thresholds as published on the YouTube Partner Program overview and eligibility and Overview of the expanded YouTube Partner Program pages, checked 22 October 2026. Kenya appears on the standard YPP availability list, on the expanded (500-subscriber) list, and on the Super Chat and Super Stickers list.
days until the ad-revenue threshold doubles
Apply before 1 February 2027 and your channel is reviewed on 4,000 hours / 10M Shorts views. After that date new applicants need 8,000 hours / 20M Shorts views. The date that matters is when the application reaches YouTube, not when the reviewer decides; review takes about a month and a rejection means a 30-day wait before reapplying, so December is the last month with room for one retry. Announced by YouTube on 10 August 2026 (YouTube blog). The subscriber count and the 500-subscriber fan-funding tier do not change.
What counts as qualified
Counts
- Public long-form videos, including podcasts
- Live streams archived as public videos
- Public Shorts that generate engaged views (the viewer stays past the first seconds; loops do not count)
- Shorts watch time counts only toward the Shorts path, long-form only toward watch hours
Does not count
- Private, unlisted and deleted videos
- Live streams that are not archived
- Views generated while a video or Short is shown as an ad
- Image posts that appear in the Shorts feed
Source: YouTube blog: qualified watch hours and Shorts views. Setting an old video to private removes its hours the same day.
Apply step by step in YouTube Studio
Check in 30 seconds whether you already meet a tier. Track subscribers, qualified watch hours and engaged Shorts views toward both thresholds in the Channel Analyzer; get the full requirements breakdown in the YouTube monetization guide and the 4,000 watch hours guide.
What shortens the path
Actions that add qualified hours and views, not promises
Nothing on this list promises approval. Each item is an action that adds qualified watch time or engaged Shorts views to your channel, and names the tool that performs it.
Fix the ten lowest-scoring videos first
Run SEO Analysis on your weakest uploads and rewrite titles, descriptions and tags where the score flags gaps. Every extra view on an existing public video adds qualified watch time. Tool: SEO Analysis.
Lengthen average view duration before adding uploads
Open Channel Details, sort by average view duration, and study the videos viewers finish. Make the next video in that shape rather than adding more of what people leave. Tool: Channel Details.
Archive every live stream as a public video
A live stream that is not archived adds nothing. Archived public streams count as long-form watch hours.
Hide old uploads only after approval
Setting a video to private removes its watch hours the same day. Clean up embarrassing early videos once the channel is in the program, not before.
Take the Shorts lane if your audience is phone-first
If most of your viewers watch on mobile, 3 million engaged Shorts views in 90 days can arrive before 3,000 watch hours. Watch engaged views, not the dashboard count. Tool: Shorts SEO Checker.
Read the rejection reasons before you apply
Most 2026 rejections cite inauthentic or mass-produced content, reused content with nothing added, misleading titles or thumbnails, or AdSense problems. Check each one against your channel before submitting. Tool: guide to monetization rejections.
How to get paid by YouTube in Kenya
Getting paid in Shillings
AdSense for YouTube pays Kenyan creators in US dollars by wire transfer to a Kenyan bank or by check once the balance reaches 100 USD; the bank converts to Shillings, and M-Pesa is not a direct AdSense method.
Payment methods available in Kenya
| Method | Currency and arrival | Best for and what to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Wire transfer to a dollar (USD) account | USD, no conversion on arrival; up to 15 business days after issue (21st–26th) | Creators who want to choose when to convert. The wire lands in dollars and you exchange to Shillings when the rate suits; ask the branch about its inbound SWIFT fee before the first payment. |
| Wire transfer to a Kenyan bank | USD; up to 15 business days after issue (21st–26th) | Creators who want a bank record for KRA. Any KCB, Equity, Co-op, NCBA, Absa or similar account that accepts inbound SWIFT wires; a USD account lets you choose when to convert. Expect an inbound wire fee. |
| Check | USD; 2–4 weeks in the mail, then weeks of bank clearing | Rarely the right choice; foreign checks take a long time to clear in Kenya. Use only if a wire is impossible. |
| EFT and Hyperwallet | Not listed for Kenya | Not available for YouTube payments in Kenya on the AdSense country table as of October 2026. M-Pesa is not a direct AdSense method. |
Methods as listed in the AdSense payment methods by country table for YouTube payments, checked 22 October 2026. Arrival times from Payment timelines for AdSense for YouTube.
A bank wire is the practical route. Add the wire before the 20th; the payment is issued between the 21st and 26th and lands in your Kenyan bank account within 15 business days. M-Pesa is not an AdSense method, so if you want the money on your phone, transfer it from your bank to M-Pesa once the wire has landed.
Keep the payments in a bank account. A bank record is what KRA and a lender will ask for. A USD account at a Kenyan bank lets the wire land without conversion so you can exchange when the rate suits; a check is the slow fallback if a wire is impossible.
What the bank asks for: the SWIFT/BIC code, the account number, and the account name exactly as printed. Ask whether the branch charges for inbound wires and how it converts.
Set up AdSense for YouTube payments step by step
- 1
Reach the payment-method selection threshold
AdSense lets you add a payment method once your balance passes a small verification amount; add it well before you expect to cross the payment threshold for your currency.
- 2
Add a wire transfer or check
In AdSense → Payments → Manage payment methods, choose the method and enter for a wire: the bank name, the SWIFT/BIC code, the account number and the account name exactly as printed; for a check: your legal name exactly as on your ID and the postal address the check is mailed to. The beneficiary name must match the AdSense payee name exactly.
- 3
Verify your address with the PIN
Google mails a PIN to your Kenya postal address once you reach the verification threshold; enter it in AdSense within four months or payments pause.
- 4
Verify your identity
Upload a government-issued ID in the payee's name when AdSense asks; the name on the ID, the AdSense account and the bank account must all match.
- 5
Submit your tax information
Open AdSense → Payments → Manage settings → United States tax info and complete the form the guide selects for you so withholding is applied at the correct rate for your country.
- 6
Watch the monthly timeline
Earnings finalize around the 3rd, payment details lock on the 20th, and payments are issued between the 21st and 26th; track your balance toward the threshold from the Channel Analyzer.
ToolChannel Analyzer
The monthly payment timeline
Common holds and how to clear them
Address verification (PIN)
Google mails a PIN once you reach the verification threshold; enter it in AdSense. If it does not arrive after three requests, use the document-based option.
Identity verification
Upload a government ID that matches the payee name exactly. A mismatch between the AdSense name and the bank account name is the most common wire rejection.
Tax information
Submit the form in AdSense → Payments → Manage settings. Without it, 24% backup withholding applies to worldwide earnings for individuals.
Payment method missing
Add it before the 20th of the month you expect to cross the threshold.
Worked example: a 100 USD payment arriving in Kenya
Example only. A 100 USD payment issued on the 24th by wire lands in your Kenyan bank within 15 business days, minus an inbound fee, and converts at the bank's rate if the account is in Shillings; in a USD account it stays in dollars until you exchange. The same payment by check takes two to four weeks in the mail and then weeks of bank clearing. Keep the receipt.

Taxes for YouTube creators in Kenya
Tax and legal basics for Kenyan creators
YouTube income in Kenya is taxable income declared to the KRA with an iTax PIN, the digital content monetization withholding and digital service rules have changed several times since 2023 and should be checked for the current year, and the W-8BEN in AdSense leaves 30% withholding on US-viewer earnings because there is no US–Kenya income tax treaty.
How it is classified. AdSense income is business or professional income declared on your annual KRA return through iTax. Register for a KRA PIN if you do not have one; banks and brands ask for it.
Digital content rules. Kenya introduced specific tax treatment for digital content monetization in the 2023 Finance Act and has amended the rates and scope since. Whether withholding applies to AdSense income, and at what rate, depends on the current Finance Act, so confirm the current year with a tax agent before filing.
The form inside AdSense. Submit the W-8BEN as a Kenyan individual. Kenya has no income tax treaty with the United States, so 30% is withheld from the portion of earnings that comes from US viewers; earnings from Kenyan, UK and other viewers are not withheld. Without any form, 24% of worldwide earnings is withheld.
Record-keeping. Keep every AdSense receipt, bank credit advice and conversion record. Together they show the dollar amount, the Shilling amount and the date.
The form inside AdSense is the W-8BEN. Fill it before the first payment so withholding matches your treaty position.
Official page: Kenya Revenue Authority. US withholding rules for creators outside the US: U.S. tax requirements for YouTube earnings.

How much YouTube pays in Kenya
Realistic earnings for Kenyan audiences
Third-party benchmarks put long-form RPM for Kenyan audiences at about 0.4–1.5 USD per 1,000 views in October 2026, with Shorts at 0.03–0.15 USD; the same video watched by UK or US viewers is paid at 5–12 USD.
| Scenario | Long-form | Shorts |
|---|---|---|
| Benchmark RPM per 1,000 views | 0.4–1.5 USD | 0.03–0.15 USD |
| 100,000 views, mostly Kenyan audience (illustrative) | about 40–150 USD | about 3–15 USD |
| 100,000 views, mixed audience incl. US/UK (illustrative) | higher, because the US and UK share is paid at 5–12 USD RPM | about 3–15 USD |
Industry estimate, Oct 2026, varies by niche and season. Illustrative rows multiply the benchmark range by views; they are not earnings data from any channel.
RPM is what a creator receives per 1,000 views after YouTube's share; CPM is what advertisers pay. Kenyan-audience RPM is low because advertisers bid less for Kenyan impressions, not because of anything the creator does. Fintech, real estate and travel content attracts higher-paying ads than skits, and a video over eight minutes with mid-roll ads out-earns a short one with the same views.
Audience country matters more than creator country. A creator in Kenya whose viewers are mostly in the US, UK, Australia or Canada is paid at those countries' rates, which is why English-language content on Kenyan travel, music and tech tends to show a higher RPM than local-language content with the same view count.
Shorts are paid from a shared pool and typically show 0.03–0.15 USD RPM. Long-form videos over eight minutes can carry mid-roll ads, which is the single biggest lever on long-form RPM.
Compare Kenya with other markets in the YouTube RPM by country guide and by topic in YouTube RPM by niche; earn before ad revenue with the ideas in how to make money on YouTube without monetization.
More ways to earn in Kenya
Income beyond ad revenue
Beyond ad revenue, Kenyan creators can turn on memberships, Super Chat, Super Thanks and Shopping with the fan-funding tier, and most working creators earn more from brand deals and M-Pesa-based support than from AdSense in the first year.
Memberships, Super Chat and Super Thanks
Kenya is on the Super Chat and Super Stickers list, and memberships come with the fan-funding tier at 500 subscribers. Fans pay in Shillings through Google Play billing, including M-Pesa-linked billing; your share arrives through AdSense in USD.
Brand deals with Kenyan companies
Telcos, betting brands, banks, fintech apps and FMCG spend heavily on creators. Rates are quoted per video in Shillings; a media kit with your Channel Analyzer numbers and audience split by country is what agencies ask for.
Direct support through M-Pesa
A till or paybill number in the description lets fans support directly in Shillings with no conversion; many Kenyan creators earn more this way than through Super Thanks.
YouTube Shopping
Tag products from your own store or an affiliate program in videos and Shorts. Available with the fan-funding tier where Shopping is offered.
Brand deals
Brands price deals on views and audience country. Keep a one-page media kit with your Channel Analyzer numbers and quote in your local currency plus USD.
Affiliate links
Programs that pay to local bank accounts avoid a second currency conversion. Disclose paid links in the description and in the video.
Digital products and courses
A template, preset, PDF or course sells to a small audience well before ad revenue is meaningful. Sell through a platform that pays out in your currency.

Mistakes that stall channels in Kenya
Mistakes that stall Kenyan channels
The patterns that stall Kenyan channels are reuploaded TikTok skits and football footage, three niches on one channel, wrong SWIFT or account details on the wire, expecting M-Pesa to be a direct AdSense method, and a name mismatch at the bank. Each has a fix.
Reuploading TikTok skits or EPL footage
Reused content with nothing added is the most common rejection reason, and broadcasters claim it. Fix: add commentary, reaction or a compilation structure in your own voice, and keep the raw files for review.
Three niches on one channel
A skit, a farming guide and a vlog teach YouTube nothing about who to recommend you to. Fix: one niche for the first 30 videos.
Wrong SWIFT or account details on the wire
A wire sent with a mistyped SWIFT/BIC code or account number, or without the intermediary bank your branch needs, fails and the money goes back to the AdSense balance until you correct it. Fix: copy the details from the bank's own document and ask the branch whether an intermediary bank is required.
Expecting M-Pesa to be a direct AdSense method
It is not on the AdSense table. Fix: receive a bank wire, then move the money to M-Pesa yourself.
Name mismatch at the bank
A wire to a different account name is returned, and a check in a name the bank does not recognise cannot be deposited. Fix: AdSense payee name identical to your ID and to the bank account name.
Ignoring Shorts
Skit, music and football channels often reach 3 million engaged Shorts views before 3,000 watch hours. Fix: cut every long video into two Shorts with the handle in frame.
Fake views from view-selling sites
Views from ad campaigns and view services do not count as qualified, and the pattern can get the application rejected. Fix: stop, delete nothing, and let real watch time accumulate.
Hiding old videos before approval
Setting early uploads to private removes their watch hours the same day. Fix: leave them public until the channel is accepted.
Applying with an unverified AdSense account
Address PIN and identity checks unresolved means the review stalls. Fix: clear every AdSense notification before you submit the YPP application.

FAQ
YouTube monetization in Kenya: your questions
Short answers that stand on their own. Each restates the country and the number so it reads correctly when quoted alone.
How many subscribers do you need to get monetized on YouTube in Kenya?
In Kenya you need 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months or 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days for full monetization. The fan-funding tier is also available in Kenya at 500 subscribers with 3,000 watch hours or 3 million Shorts views plus three public uploads in 90 days.
Does YouTube pay through M-Pesa in Kenya?
Not directly. As of October 2026 the AdSense table lists only wire transfer and check for Kenya, and M-Pesa itself is not an AdSense payment method. Receive the payment by wire into a Kenyan bank account, then transfer it to M-Pesa yourself if you want the money on your phone.
How do I receive YouTube payment in Kenya?
Add a wire transfer in AdSense → Payments → Manage payment methods before the 20th, with your bank's SWIFT/BIC code and the account name exactly as printed. Payments are issued between the 21st and 26th once the balance reaches 100 USD, and a wire to a Kenyan bank arrives within 15 business days. A check is the other listed method, but it takes two to four weeks plus clearing.

Yes. YouTube income earned by a creator living in Kenya is taxable income declared to the KRA through iTax, and Kenya's digital content monetization rules, introduced in 2023 and amended since, may apply withholding at the current rate. Google also withholds 30% of earnings from US viewers after you submit a W-8BEN, because there is no US–Kenya tax treaty. This is general information, not tax advice.
Is Super Chat available in Kenya?
Yes. Kenya is on YouTube's Super Chat and Super Stickers availability list, and it is on the expanded YouTube Partner Program list, so channels set to Kenya can turn on memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers, Super Thanks and Shopping at the 500-subscriber fan-funding tier. Fans pay in Shillings through Google Play billing; your share arrives through AdSense.
