YouTube Monetization Checker: see exactly what you still need
Type four numbers from YouTube Studio and get a yes or no for the fan-funding tier and full monetization, the gap on each lane, how many weeks it takes at your current pace, and whether you can reach the line before the thresholds double on 1 February 2027.
Platform facts verified 22 October 2026 against YouTube and AdSense Help · Updated when the rules change

Full monetization (ads + YouTube Premium revenue)
Not yet. 1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 hours or 10M engaged Shorts views.
Fan-funding tier (memberships, Super Chat, Shopping)
Not yet. 500 subscribers, 3 public uploads in 90 days, and 3,000 hours or 3M Shorts views.
Would you qualify under the 1 Feb 2027 rules?
Not yet. After the cutoff: 8,000 hours or 20M Shorts views. Gap: 6,150 hours or 19,580,000 views.
The lanes never combine. You are closer on the Long-form lane; put the next 90 days behind it.
At this pace you miss the cutoff. The sprint plan shows what has to change in the next 90 days.
Thresholds from the YouTube Partner Program overview and eligibility, Overview of the expanded YouTube Partner Program and YouTube blog: New opportunities to earn and changes to the YouTube Partner Program (10 Aug 2026) pages, checked 22 October 2026. Eligibility is not approval: YouTube also reviews the channel against its monetization policies.
What the gap means
Close the gap with actions, not uploads
Each line below adds qualified watch time or engaged Shorts views to a channel that already exists, and names the YouSEO tool that does it.
Fix the ten lowest-scoring videos first
Run SEO Analysis on your weakest uploads and rewrite titles, descriptions and tags where the score flags gaps. Every extra view on an existing public video adds qualified watch time. Tool: SEO Analysis.
Lengthen average view duration before adding uploads
Open Channel Details, sort by average view duration, and study the videos viewers finish. Make the next video in that shape rather than adding more of what people leave. Tool: Channel Details.
Archive every live stream as a public video
A live stream that is not archived adds nothing. Archived public streams count as long-form watch hours.
Hide old uploads only after approval
Setting a video to private removes its watch hours the same day. Clean up embarrassing early videos once the channel is in the program, not before.
Take the Shorts lane if your audience is phone-first
If most of your viewers watch on mobile, 3 million engaged Shorts views in 90 days can arrive before 3,000 watch hours. Watch engaged views, not the dashboard count. Tool: Shorts SEO Checker.
Read the rejection reasons before you apply
Most 2026 rejections cite inauthentic or mass-produced content, reused content with nothing added, misleading titles or thumbnails, or AdSense problems. Check each one against your channel before submitting. Tool: guide to monetization rejections.
The rules behind the checker
What counts as qualified
The checker uses YouTube's own definitions. If your Studio number is lower than you expected, one of these is usually why.
Counts
- Public long-form videos, including podcasts
- Live streams archived as public videos
- Public Shorts that generate engaged views (the viewer stays past the first seconds; loops do not count)
- Shorts watch time counts only toward the Shorts path, long-form only toward watch hours
Does not count
- Private, unlisted and deleted videos
- Live streams that are not archived
- Views generated while a video or Short is shown as an ad
- Image posts that appear in the Shorts feed
Setting an old video to private removes its hours the same day, so clean up embarrassing early uploads only after approval. Live streams count only if they are archived as public videos. Views bought through ad campaigns never count, and the pattern can get an application rejected. Read the full breakdown in the YouTube monetization guide, and if you have already been turned down, the rejection reasons guide lists every reason YouTube cites with the fix.
FAQ
Questions creators ask
How does this YouTube monetization checker work?
You enter your subscribers, qualified public watch hours from the last 12 months, engaged Shorts views from the last 90 days and public uploads from the last 90 days, and the checker compares them with YouTube's published thresholds for the fan-funding tier and full monetization, before and after 1 February 2027. It runs in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere. Link your channel in the YouSEO app and the numbers fill themselves.
What are the YouTube monetization requirements in 2026?
Full monetization needs 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months or 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days. The fan-funding tier needs 500 subscribers, three public uploads in 90 days, and 3,000 watch hours or 3 million Shorts views. Both also need policy compliance, 2-Step Verification, advanced features access and one linked AdSense for YouTube account, in a country where the program is available.
What changes on 1 February 2027?
From 1 February 2027 new applicants for ad revenue need 1,000 subscribers plus 8,000 qualified watch hours in 365 days or 20 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days, double today's 4,000 hours or 10 million views. The 500-subscriber fan-funding tier does not change, and channels already in the program keep their status. An application that reaches YouTube before the cutoff is reviewed on the current thresholds.
Where do I find my qualified watch hours and engaged Shorts views?
In YouTube Studio open Earn (or Monetization) to see your progress toward the thresholds, or Analytics → Advanced mode and filter for public videos to see watch hours. Engaged Shorts views appear in Analytics per Short and run below the dashboard view count, because loops and the first seconds do not count. The YouSEO Channel Details tool shows both numbers against the thresholds after you link your channel.
Do Shorts views and watch hours add together?
No. The two lanes never combine: a channel qualifies on whichever lane it fills first. Shorts watch time does not count toward 4,000 watch hours, and long-form views do not count toward 10 million Shorts views. This checker shows each lane separately and tells you which one you are closer to, so you can put the next 90 days behind the lane that will qualify first.
Why does the checker say I qualify but YouTube hasn't approved me?
Meeting the numbers makes you eligible to apply; it does not approve the channel. YouTube reviews the channel against its monetization policies, and most 2026 rejections cite reused content with nothing added, mass-produced or inauthentic content, misleading titles or thumbnails, or AdSense problems. Review takes about a month; a rejection means a 30-day wait before reapplying, and 90 days after a second rejection.
Does my country affect eligibility?
Yes. The YouTube Partner Program is available in about 138 countries and the 500-subscriber fan-funding tier in fewer, so the checker asks for your country and tells you whether the fan-funding tier applies. Pakistan, Bangladesh and Ghana, for example, have the standard program but not the fan-funding tier or Super Chat as of October 2026; each country guide on this site lists the exact position and the payment methods.
