How to start a YouTube channel in Mexico
Set the channel up for Mexican search from day one
Open the channel on your own Google account, set Mexico as the country in Studio, verify with a Mexican mobile number, and write the name and description in Spanish with the words Mexican viewers search, because the same Spanish reaches the US Hispanic audience.
Spanish first, neutral where it travels
Mexican viewers search in Spanish. A Spanish name with the niche in it ("Finanzas sin Rollo", "Cocina de la Abuela") is found more often than an English nickname; neutral Spanish lets the same video reach Colombia, Argentina and the US.
Set the channel country to Mexico
Studio → Settings → Channel → Basic info → Country of residence. This is what YouTube checks against the availability lists and what AdSense expects the payment address to match.
2-Step Verification and advanced features
Turn on 2-Step Verification on the Google account, then verify the channel with a Mexican mobile number (Telcel, AT&T and Movistar all receive the code) to get advanced features.
A handle that matches every other platform
Short, no numbers, identical on TikTok, Instagram and Facebook; a mismatch loses viewers who find you elsewhere.
Description in the words viewers search
Write it in Spanish with the phrases people type ("cómo monetizar YouTube", "cuánto paga YouTube en México", "receta de tamales"), and name the upload days.
First five videos as one series
Five videos on one promise tell YouTube exactly who to show you to. Mixing humor, finance and vlogs in week one tells it nothing.
Phone-first equipment
A mid-range phone, a lapel mic and daylight are enough; clear Spanish audio matters more than resolution.
Upload defaults
Set video language to Spanish (Mexico), the caption language, and the location. Default to public and schedule for 7–10 pm Central Mexico time.
Study a channel in your niche with the Channel Analyzer before you pick a name, then draft your first titles with the Video Title Generator. Full setup walkthrough: how to start a YouTube channel.
Best YouTube niche in Mexico
Niches that grow and pay for Mexican audiences
The niches growing in Mexico in 2026 are humor, música y reacciones, fútbol, finanzas personales, cocina, gaming, educación, tech, vlogs and emprendimiento. Earning potential is qualitative and reflects advertiser demand for each topic.
Humor
Medium earning potentialMexican meme and sketch culture moves fast and travels across Latin America.
Música y reacciones
Medium earning potentialCorridos tumbados, reggaetón and regional releases create search spikes across the Spanish-speaking world.
Fútbol (Liga MX, El Tri)
Medium earning potentialThe national conversation; reactions rank within minutes of full time and the US Hispanic audience watches too.
Finanzas personales
High earning potentialAfores, CETES, credit and remittance explainers draw the highest-paying advertisers in Mexico.
Cocina
Medium earning potentialMexican recipes rank globally; the US Hispanic audience searches the same titles.
Gaming
Low earning potentialLarge audience, lower RPM; archived live streams count as watch hours.
Educación
Medium earning potentialPrepa, universidad and exam content has steady demand and few polished channels per subject.
Tech
High earning potentialPhones, laptops and software in Spanish; strong electronics-retailer advertising.
Vlogs and travel
Medium earning potentialDaily life and domestic travel (Oaxaca, Chiapas, Yucatán) reach locals and foreign tourists; English versions earn higher RPM.
Emprendimiento
High earning potentialSmall-business, SAT and side-income content has high intent and fintech advertisers.
Earning potential is qualitative (Low / Medium / High) and reflects advertiser demand and audience country, not a figure any channel will earn.
Saturated locally: generic prank videos, reuploaded TV and football footage, celebrity gossip and "cómo ganar dinero en internet" channels without a product. Reused footage is claimed within hours, and the rest is interchangeable.
Low local competition: plain-Spanish explainers of Mexican systems (SAT, IMSS, Infonavit, Afore), trade skills with a camera on the work, state-level content outside CDMX and Monterrey, and Spanish-language tutorials for specific software.
Local audience or global audience? Spanish content made in Mexico already reaches all of Latin America and the US Hispanic audience, whose views are paid at US rates. English content on Mexico travel and food reaches the US, Canada and Europe at high RPM. Most Mexican channels stay in Spanish and let the US audience lift the blended RPM.

How to get views and subscribers in Mexico
Grow from Mexican audiences
Mexican viewers search in Spanish, watch on mobile between 7 and 10 pm Central Mexico time, and share through WhatsApp and Facebook, so Spanish titles, expressive thumbnails, Liga MX and festive timing and neutral Spanish that travels to the US do most of the work.
Titles and keywords in the words Mexican viewers type
Mexicans search in Spanish, and English words in a title lose clicks unless they are the name of a game or a brand. Put the query first, keep titles under 60 characters so they survive a WhatsApp preview, and let the thumbnail carry the emotion.
Cómo Monetizar YouTube en México 2026 (Requisitos)
The highest-volume monetization query in Mexico; the year and the bracket signal freshness.
¿Cuánto Rinden $1,000 en CETES? (2026)
A Mexican product and a peso figure viewers recognise.
América vs Chivas: Reacción en Vivo del Clásico
Match for search, live reaction for the click; publish within an hour of full time.
Tamales Oaxaqueños Paso a Paso (Receta de Abuela)
Dish, region and a trust signal.
Declaración Anual 2026 para YouTubers (Paso a Paso)
A yearly Mexican life moment plus the exact audience.
Cosas que solo pasan en el Metro de la CDMX
A relatable hook for the Shorts feed that travels across Latin America.
Paste a topic into the YouTube Keyword Generator to see the exact phrases searched from Mexico, then write the title with the Video Title Generator.
Thumbnails that work for Mexican viewers
Expressive faces, three words of Spanish text in bold, and bright colours that survive a cheap screen in sunlight. Mexican thumbnails are louder than US ones; what fails is tiny screenshots, four lines of text and English words.
Make the thumbnail in the Thumbnail Maker and run it through the Thumbnail Analyzer, which scores your thumbnail before you upload so you can compare two versions side by side.
Posting time in Central Mexico time (CST)
Mexican viewing peaks from 7 to 10 pm Central Mexico time on weekdays, with a second peak on Sunday afternoons around football. The US Central time zone matches most of the year, so a 8 pm upload also catches the US Hispanic evening; Spain is seven or eight hours ahead. The Best Time to Post tool reads your own channel's viewer activity by hour and day, which beats any general rule once you have a few weeks of data.
Local trends, festivals and sport
Día de Reyes, the Super Bowl, Semana Santa, Día de las Madres on 10 May, the Liga MX seasons, Independence Day on 16 September, Día de Muertos, El Buen Fin in November, the Guadalupe-Reyes stretch and the SAT annual declaration in April are the reliable spikes. Publish a Buen Fin or Día de Muertos video two weeks early so it ranks before the peak.
Community posts and comments in the audience's language
Reply in Spanish with the same register the comment used. Community posts built on Mexican memes get more replies than announcements; polls about the next topic keep viewers between uploads.
Collaborations with Mexican creators at your size
Collaborate with creators at your size in CDMX, Guadalajara or Monterrey. Two 5,000-subscriber channels swapping appearances each gain a new audience; creator Discords and WhatsApp groups are where these start.
Playlists and end screens
Group videos into playlists named with the search phrase, not a clever title, so the playlist itself ranks. Put the next video in the series on the end screen; a session that continues on your channel is the strongest signal you can send.
What the algorithm actually rewards
YouTube recommends videos that viewers watch for longer, rate as satisfying in surveys, and come back to. It does not reward upload frequency on its own, tags on their own, or keyword stuffing. Read the plain-language breakdown in the YouTube algorithm guide and check each upload with the Video SEO Checker before it goes live.
YouTube Shorts in Mexico
Shorts as a monetization lane for Mexican creators
Shorts in Mexico reach the fan-funding tier at 3 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days and full monetization at 10 million, counted as engaged views; the phone-first, TikTok-trained audience makes the Shorts lane realistic for humor, music, football and food channels.
- 3 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days for the fan-funding tier; 10 million for full monetization.
- Qualified means engaged views: the viewer stays past the first seconds, and loops are not counted.
- Engaged views sit in YouTube Analytics and run below the dashboard view count.
- From 1 February 2027 new applicants for ad revenue need 20 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days.
- 3,000 qualified public watch hours in 12 months for the fan-funding tier; 4,000 for full monetization.
- Public uploads, podcasts and archived live streams count; Shorts watch time does not.
- Hours are checked over a rolling 12 months, so old public videos keep contributing.
- From 1 February 2027 new applicants for ad revenue need 8,000 qualified watch hours in 365 days.
A channel qualifies on whichever lane it fills first. Mexican audiences are mobile-first and already fluent in vertical video, so humor, music, football and food channels often reach 3 million engaged Shorts views before 3,000 watch hours; long-form still carries almost all of the ad revenue.
Local Shorts tactics
- Burn Spanish captions into the frame; most Shorts are watched without sound on the metro or at work.
- Use trending corridos, reggaetón and cumbia sounds within the first week; the audio page is a discovery surface.
- Hashtags in Spanish (#humor #ligamx #recetas #cdmx) rather than ten generic English ones.
- Post Shorts daily during the Liga MX liguilla and the Guadalupe-Reyes stretch, and point each one at a long-form video in the pinned comment.
- Watch engaged views in Analytics, not the dashboard count; loops and the first seconds do not count toward the 3M and 10M thresholds.
Shorts RPM is far lower than long-form everywhere (third-party benchmarks put it around 0.03–0.15 USD per 1,000 views), so treat Shorts as the lane that builds subscribers and feeds long-form, not as the main earner. Read how Shorts monetization works for the revenue-share rules.
Write hashtags in your audience's language with the Shorts Tags Generator, pick a title with the Shorts Title Generator, see what is rising in Trending Shorts Ideas and score each Short with the Shorts SEO Checker.
YouTube monetization requirements in Mexico
Requirements and the 1 February 2027 change
In Mexico you can join the YouTube Partner Program at 1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 qualified watch hours or 10 million qualified Shorts views; the fan-funding tier at 500 subscribers is also available. From 1 February 2027 new applicants for ad revenue need 8,000 hours or 20 million Shorts views.
| Requirement | Fan funding and Shopping (500 subscribers) | Full monetization (1,000 subscribers) |
|---|---|---|
| Subscribers | 500 | 1,000 |
| Long-form path | 3,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months | 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months |
| Shorts path | 3 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days | 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days |
| Public uploads | 3 in the last 90 days | Not required |
| Earns from | Memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers, Super Thanks, Jewels and gifts, Shopping | Everything in the fan-funding tier plus ad revenue and YouTube Premium revenue |
| Both tiers also need | Monetization-policy compliance, YPP availability in the channel's country, no active Community Guidelines strike, 2-Step Verification, advanced features access, one active AdSense for YouTube account | Same |
Thresholds as published on the YouTube Partner Program overview and eligibility and Overview of the expanded YouTube Partner Program pages, checked 22 October 2026. Mexico appears on the standard YPP availability list, on the expanded (500-subscriber) list, and on the Super Chat and Super Stickers list.
days until the ad-revenue threshold doubles
Apply before 1 February 2027 and your channel is reviewed on 4,000 hours / 10M Shorts views. After that date new applicants need 8,000 hours / 20M Shorts views. The date that matters is when the application reaches YouTube, not when the reviewer decides; review takes about a month and a rejection means a 30-day wait before reapplying, so December is the last month with room for one retry. Announced by YouTube on 10 August 2026 (YouTube blog). The subscriber count and the 500-subscriber fan-funding tier do not change.
What counts as qualified
Counts
- Public long-form videos, including podcasts
- Live streams archived as public videos
- Public Shorts that generate engaged views (the viewer stays past the first seconds; loops do not count)
- Shorts watch time counts only toward the Shorts path, long-form only toward watch hours
Does not count
- Private, unlisted and deleted videos
- Live streams that are not archived
- Views generated while a video or Short is shown as an ad
- Image posts that appear in the Shorts feed
Source: YouTube blog: qualified watch hours and Shorts views. Setting an old video to private removes its hours the same day.

What shortens the path
Actions that add qualified hours and views, not promises
Nothing on this list promises approval. Each item is an action that adds qualified watch time or engaged Shorts views to your channel, and names the tool that performs it.
Fix the ten lowest-scoring videos first
Run SEO Analysis on your weakest uploads and rewrite titles, descriptions and tags where the score flags gaps. Every extra view on an existing public video adds qualified watch time. Tool: SEO Analysis.
Lengthen average view duration before adding uploads
Open Channel Details, sort by average view duration, and study the videos viewers finish. Make the next video in that shape rather than adding more of what people leave. Tool: Channel Details.
Archive every live stream as a public video
A live stream that is not archived adds nothing. Archived public streams count as long-form watch hours.
Hide old uploads only after approval
Setting a video to private removes its watch hours the same day. Clean up embarrassing early videos once the channel is in the program, not before.
Take the Shorts lane if your audience is phone-first
If most of your viewers watch on mobile, 3 million engaged Shorts views in 90 days can arrive before 3,000 watch hours. Watch engaged views, not the dashboard count. Tool: Shorts SEO Checker.
Read the rejection reasons before you apply
Most 2026 rejections cite inauthentic or mass-produced content, reused content with nothing added, misleading titles or thumbnails, or AdSense problems. Check each one against your channel before submitting. Tool: guide to monetization rejections.
How to get paid by YouTube in Mexico
Getting paid in pesos
AdSense for YouTube pays Mexican creators in pesos by EFT to a Mexican bank account or by wire transfer once the balance reaches Mex$1,200; EFT arrives within seven business days of the 21st–26th issue window.
Payment methods available in Mexico
| Method | Currency and arrival | Best for and what to expect |
|---|---|---|
| EFT to a Mexican bank | MXN; up to 7 business days after issue (21st–26th) | Almost every Mexican creator. Any BBVA, Banorte, Santander, Citibanamex, HSBC or similar account; you enter the 18-digit CLABE and the account holder's name. No fees from AdSense. |
| Wire transfer | USD or MXN; up to 15 business days after issue | Creators who want dollars in a foreign-currency account or whose bank only accepts SWIFT. Expect an inbound fee and the bank's conversion spread. |
| Check, Hyperwallet | Not listed for Mexico | Not available for YouTube payments in Mexico on the AdSense country table as of October 2026. |
Methods as listed in the AdSense payment methods by country table for YouTube payments, checked 22 October 2026. Arrival times from Payment timelines for AdSense for YouTube.
EFT in pesos is the default to choose. Mexico is one of the countries where AdSense lists EFT and a local-currency threshold (Mex$1,200), so you are paid in pesos straight into a Mexican account through the CLABE with no conversion at your bank. Payment currency is fixed to the payment address once set.
What the bank asks for: the 18-digit CLABE interbancaria and the account holder's name exactly as the bank prints it. For a persona física that is your own name; for a company the AdSense payee and the account should both be the company.
Name and RFC. The AdSense payee name must match the account holder exactly; a payment to a family member's account is returned. Keep your RFC consistent across AdSense, the bank and the SAT.
Set up AdSense for YouTube payments step by step
- 1
Reach the payment-method selection threshold
AdSense lets you add a payment method once your balance passes a small verification amount; add it well before you expect to cross the payment threshold for your currency.
- 2
Add an EFT to a Mexican bank account
In AdSense → Payments → Manage payment methods, choose the method and enter the 18-digit CLABE and the account holder's name exactly as the bank prints it. The beneficiary name must match the AdSense payee name exactly.
- 3
Verify your address with the PIN
Google mails a PIN to your Mexico postal address once you reach the verification threshold; enter it in AdSense within four months or payments pause.
- 4
Verify your identity
Upload a government-issued ID in the payee's name when AdSense asks; the name on the ID, the AdSense account and the bank account must all match.
- 5
Submit your tax information
Open AdSense → Payments → Manage settings → United States tax info and complete the form the guide selects for you so withholding is applied at the correct rate for your country.
- 6
Watch the monthly timeline
Earnings finalize around the 3rd, payment details lock on the 20th, and payments are issued between the 21st and 26th; track your balance toward the threshold from the Channel Analyzer.
ToolChannel Analyzer
The monthly payment timeline
Common holds and how to clear them
Address verification (PIN)
Google mails a PIN once you reach the verification threshold; enter it in AdSense. If it does not arrive after three requests, use the document-based option.
Identity verification
Upload a government ID that matches the payee name exactly. A mismatch between the AdSense name and the bank account name is the most common wire rejection.
Tax information
Submit the form in AdSense → Payments → Manage settings. Without it, 24% backup withholding applies to worldwide earnings for individuals.
Payment method missing
Add it before the 20th of the month you expect to cross the threshold.
Worked example: a 100 USD payment arriving in Mexico
Example only. A Mex$1,200-threshold payment issued on the 24th by EFT typically lands in your Mexican account within seven business days with no conversion and no fee, so the amount credited matches the AdSense receipt to the peso. The bank statement line shows Google as the sender; keep it with the receipt for the SAT.
Estimate how views translate to revenue by country with the YouTube Money Calculator; compare countries in the RPM by country guide.
Taxes for YouTube creators in Mexico
Tax and legal basics for Mexican creators
YouTube income in Mexico is taxable: register with the SAT and get an RFC, income from digital platforms has had withholding rules since 2020, RESICO may fit small creators, and the W-8BEN in AdSense with the Mexico–US treaty claim reduces withholding on US-viewer earnings.
How it is classified. AdSense income is business or professional income for a persona física, declared in monthly provisional payments and the annual declaration in April. Register with the SAT, get an RFC and e.firma, and choose a regime; RESICO (Régimen Simplificado de Confianza) suits many small creators with its low rates, but has conditions.
Digital platform rules and VAT. Mexico has specific rules for income earned through digital platforms, including withholding by platforms in some cases, and VAT on services. AdSense income from Google's overseas entity is treated differently from domestic brand deals, which carry IVA; a contador sets this up in your first declaration.
The form inside AdSense. Submit the W-8BEN as a Mexican individual and claim the Mexico–US tax treaty; the treaty reduces the rate on earnings from US viewers below the 30% default, and the exact rate is shown in the AdSense tax tool. Earnings from Mexican and other non-US viewers are not withheld. Without any form, 24% of worldwide earnings is withheld.
Record-keeping. Keep every AdSense receipt and bank statement, plus CFDI invoices for equipment, software and a share of home costs; the SAT expects records kept for five years.
The form inside AdSense is the W-8BEN. Fill it before the first payment so withholding matches your treaty position.
Official page: Servicio de Administración Tributaria. US withholding rules for creators outside the US: U.S. tax requirements for YouTube earnings.
Keep these records
AdSense payment receipts
Download the monthly receipt from Payments → Transactions.
Bank statements
Each EFT credit, matched to the receipt.
RFC, regime registration and e.firma
Plus monthly provisional payments and the annual declaration.
CFDI issued and received
Invoices issued for brand deals and received for deductible expenses.
Brand-deal contracts
Domestic deals carry IVA; keep them separate from AdSense.
Equipment, software and home-office CFDI
Cameras, microphones, editing software, internet and a share of rent are the usual deductions; ask your contador.
How much YouTube pays in Mexico
Realistic earnings for Mexican audiences
Third-party benchmarks put long-form RPM for Mexican audiences at about 1–3 USD per 1,000 views in October 2026, with Shorts at 0.03–0.15 USD; the US Hispanic share of a Mexican channel's audience is paid at US rates, which lifts the blended figure.
| Scenario | Long-form | Shorts |
|---|---|---|
| Benchmark RPM per 1,000 views | 1–3 USD | 0.03–0.15 USD |
| 100,000 views, mostly Mexican audience (illustrative) | about 100–300 USD | about 3–15 USD |
| 100,000 views, mixed audience incl. US/UK (illustrative) | higher, because the US and UK share is paid at 5–12 USD RPM | about 3–15 USD |
Industry estimate, Oct 2026, varies by niche and season. Illustrative rows multiply the benchmark range by views; they are not earnings data from any channel.
RPM is what a creator receives per 1,000 views after YouTube's share; CPM is what advertisers pay. Mexican-audience RPM sits between the volume markets and the high-RPM markets because Mexico has a large advertiser base for fintech, retail and telecoms, and the US Hispanic audience is the reason many Mexican channels see a higher blended RPM than the local benchmark suggests. Finance, tech and business content sits at the top of the range, humor and gaming at the bottom, and a video over eight minutes with mid-roll ads out-earns a short one with the same views.
Audience country matters more than creator country. A creator in Mexico whose viewers are mostly in the US, UK, Australia or Canada is paid at those countries' rates, which is why English-language content on Mexico travel, food and music tends to show a higher RPM than local-language content with the same view count.
Shorts are paid from a shared pool and typically show 0.03–0.15 USD RPM. Long-form videos over eight minutes can carry mid-roll ads, which is the single biggest lever on long-form RPM.
Compare Mexico with other markets in the YouTube RPM by country guide and by topic in YouTube RPM by niche; earn before ad revenue with the ideas in how to make money on YouTube without monetization.
More ways to earn in Mexico
Income beyond ad revenue
Beyond ad revenue, Mexican creators have memberships, Super Chat, Super Thanks and Shopping available with the fan-funding tier, and brand deals with Mexican companies and affiliate programs that pay in pesos usually out-earn AdSense for channels under a million views a month.
Memberships, Super Chat and Super Thanks
Mexico is on the Super Chat and Super Stickers list, and memberships come with the fan-funding tier at 500 subscribers. Fans pay in pesos through Google Play billing and OXXO-linked methods; your share arrives through AdSense.
Brand deals with Mexican companies
Fintechs, telecoms, retailers, beer and food brands spend heavily on creators. Rates are quoted per video in pesos; issue a CFDI with IVA and keep a media kit with your Channel Analyzer numbers and US audience share.
Affiliate programs that pay in pesos
Amazon Afiliados México, Mercado Libre and Liverpool programs pay to Mexican accounts with no conversion; El Buen Fin is the peak.
YouTube Shopping
Tag products from your own store or an affiliate program in videos and Shorts. Available with the fan-funding tier where Shopping is offered.
Brand deals
Brands price deals on views and audience country. Keep a one-page media kit with your Channel Analyzer numbers and quote in your local currency plus USD.
Affiliate links
Programs that pay to local bank accounts avoid a second currency conversion. Disclose paid links in the description and in the video.
Digital products and courses
A template, preset, PDF or course sells to a small audience well before ad revenue is meaningful. Sell through a platform that pays out in your currency.

Mistakes that stall channels in Mexico
Mistakes that stall Mexican channels
The patterns that stall Mexican channels are reuploaded Liga MX and TV footage, reaction content without commentary, English words in Spanish titles, three niches on one channel, missing the SAT registration, and hiding old videos before approval. Each has a fix.
Reuploading Liga MX or TV footage
Broadcasters claim it within hours and the channel collects strikes. Fix: react to the moment with your own camera and voice instead of showing the broadcast.
Reaction content without commentary
Reused content with nothing added is the most common rejection reason. Fix: your own analysis and framing, with permission where needed.
English words in Spanish titles
Mexican viewers skip titles that look foreign unless the word is a game or a brand. Fix: Spanish query first, English only for proper names.
Three niches on one channel
A sketch, a finance explainer and a vlog teach YouTube nothing about who to recommend you to. Fix: one niche for the first 30 videos.
No RFC when the money arrives
Banks report foreign payments and the SAT expects a registered regime. Fix: register with the SAT the month you turn on monetization and ask a contador about RESICO.
Ignoring Shorts
Humor, music and football channels often reach 3 million engaged Shorts views before 3,000 watch hours. Fix: cut every long video into Shorts with Spanish captions.
Fake views from view-selling sites
Views from ad campaigns and view services do not count as qualified, and the pattern can get the application rejected. Fix: stop, delete nothing, and let real watch time accumulate.
Hiding old videos before approval
Setting early uploads to private removes their watch hours the same day. Fix: leave them public until the channel is accepted.
Applying with an unverified AdSense account
Address PIN and identity checks unresolved means the review stalls. Fix: clear every AdSense notification before you submit the YPP application.

FAQ
YouTube monetization in Mexico: your questions
Short answers that stand on their own. Each restates the country and the number so it reads correctly when quoted alone.
How many subscribers do you need to monetize in Mexico?
In Mexico you need 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months or 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days for full monetization. The fan-funding tier is also available in Mexico at 500 subscribers with 3,000 watch hours or 3 million Shorts views plus three public uploads in 90 days.
Does YouTube pay in pesos in Mexico?
Yes. The AdSense table lists EFT and wire transfer for Mexico, and the AdSense threshold page lists MXN at Mex$1,200, so a Mexican creator is paid in pesos by EFT through the CLABE straight into a local account with no conversion. The payment currency is fixed to the payment address once set, so choose pesos deliberately when you add the method.
When does YouTube pay in Mexico?
AdSense finalizes the previous month's earnings around the 3rd, locks payment details on the 20th, and issues payments between the 21st and 26th if the balance on the 20th is at least Mex$1,200. An EFT to a Mexican bank account then arrives within seven business days, so most Mexican creators see the credit before the end of the month; a wire transfer can take up to 15 business days.
How much does YouTube pay in Mexico per 1,000 views?
Third-party benchmarks for October 2026 put long-form RPM for Mexican audiences at about 1–3 USD per 1,000 views and Shorts at 0.03–0.15 USD, varying by niche and season. Finance, tech and business content sits at the top of that range, humor and gaming at the bottom, and the US Hispanic share of a Mexican channel's audience is paid at US rates, which lifts the blended figure.
Do I have to pay taxes to the SAT on YouTube income?
Yes. YouTube income earned by a creator living in Mexico is business or professional income declared to the SAT with an RFC, through monthly provisional payments and the annual declaration in April; RESICO may fit small creators, and domestic brand deals carry IVA. Google also withholds a treaty-reduced rate on US-viewer earnings after you submit a W-8BEN. This is general information, not tax advice.
How do I collect my YouTube money in Mexico?
Add an EFT in AdSense → Payments → Manage payment methods with your 18-digit CLABE and the account holder's name exactly as the bank prints it. Verify your address with the mailed PIN, verify your identity if asked, and submit the W-8BEN claiming the Mexico–US treaty. Payment is issued automatically between the 21st and 26th once the balance reaches Mex$1,200.
Is Super Chat available in Mexico?
Yes. Mexico is on YouTube's Super Chat and Super Stickers availability list and on the expanded YouTube Partner Program list, so channels set to Mexico can turn on memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers, Super Thanks and Shopping at the 500-subscriber fan-funding tier. Fans pay in pesos through Google Play billing; your share arrives through AdSense.
What changes for creators in Mexico on 1 February 2027?
From 1 February 2027 new applicants for ad revenue anywhere, including Mexico, need 1,000 subscribers plus 8,000 qualified watch hours in 365 days or 20 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days, double the current 4,000 hours or 10 million views. The 500-subscriber fan-funding tier does not change, and channels already in the program keep their status.
