Как запустить канал на YouTube в South Korea
Set the channel up for Korean search from day one
Open the channel on a Google account you control, set South Korea as the country in Studio, verify with a Korean mobile number, decide between Korean and English before the name, and set up the Naver Blog that will feed the channel.
Korean or English, decided before the name
Korean-language titles reach the domestic audience; English content made in Korea (teaching Korean, showing Korea) reaches overseas viewers at higher RPM. Pick one; a Hangul name signals the first, a romanised name the second.
Set the channel country to South Korea
Studio → Settings → Channel → Basic info → Country of residence. This is what YouTube checks against the availability lists and what AdSense expects the payment address to match.
2-Step Verification and advanced features
Turn on 2-Step Verification on the Google account, then verify the channel with a Korean mobile number (SKT, KT and LG U+ all receive the code) to get advanced features such as longer uploads and custom thumbnails.
A handle that works on Instagram and Naver
Korean creators cross-post on Instagram and repurpose to Naver Blog; use the same short handle everywhere.
Description in the words viewers search
Write it with the phrases people type in Hangul ("유튜브 수익창출 조건", "서울 맛집 추천"), name the upload day, and add a business email for brand deals.
First five videos as one series
Five videos on one promise tell YouTube exactly who to show you to. Mixing mukbang, vlogs and gaming in week one tells it nothing.
Copyright and portrait rights
K-pop music and broadcast clips are claimed fast, and Korean portrait-rights norms are strict; blur bystanders and use Audio Library music from the first upload.
Upload defaults
Set video language to Korean (or English), caption language, and the location. Default to public and schedule for 7–10 pm KST.
Study a channel in your niche with the Channel Analyzer before you pick a name, then draft your first titles with the Video Title Generator. Full setup walkthrough: how to start a YouTube channel.

Niches that grow and pay for Korean audiences
The niches growing in South Korea in 2026 are mukbang, K-beauty, daily vlogs, gaming (League of Legends), Korean language for foreigners, K-pop reactions and dance covers, cooking, finance (stocks, jaetekeu), study-with-me and Korea travel. Earning potential is qualitative and reflects advertiser demand for each topic.
Mukbang
Medium earning potentialThe format Korea invented; long sessions and a global audience with captions.
K-beauty
High earning potentialKorean skincare and make-up with strong affiliate and brand-deal demand at home and abroad.
Daily vlogs
Medium earning potentialApartment, office and seasonal life content with a loyal domestic audience; travels abroad with English captions.
Gaming (League of Legends)
Low earning potentialA huge domestic esports audience; archived live streams count as watch hours.
Korean language for foreigners
High earning potentialEnglish content teaching Korean reaches overseas learners at high RPM with limited competition.
K-pop reactions and dance covers
Low earning potentialFast demand after each release; reactions with commentary are safer than clip reuploads.
Cooking
Medium earning potentialKorean home cooking searched at home and abroad; strong food-brand advertising.
Finance (stocks, jaetekeu)
High earning potentialInvesting and jaetekeu explainers draw the highest-paying advertisers in Korea.
Study-with-me
Low earning potentialSuneung culture creates long real-time study sessions with loyal viewers and high watch time.
Korea travel
High earning potentialEnglish travel content made in Korea reaches overseas viewers at high RPM; Korean travel content reaches a loyal domestic audience.
Earning potential is qualitative (Low / Medium / High) and reflects advertiser demand and audience country, not a figure any channel will earn.
Saturated locally: K-pop clip compilations, music reuploads, generic game highlights and reaction channels without commentary. Rights holders claim within hours, and what remains is interchangeable.
Low local competition: plain-Korean explainers of Korean systems (종합소득세, 국민연금, 전세), English explainers of life in Korea for foreigners (visas, jeonse, banking), regional travel outside Seoul and Busan, and trade skills with a camera on the work.
Local audience or global audience? Korean-language content reaches a loyal domestic audience at high RPM. English content made in Korea reaches the US, UK, Australia and Southeast Asia at high RPM and faces less competition than English content made there, because the Korea angle is the draw. Many creators in Korea run Korean audio with English captions to reach both.

Как набрать просмотры и подписчиков в South Korea
Grow from Korean audiences
Korean viewers search in Hangul, watch from 7 to 10 pm KST, and arrive from Naver and Instagram as much as from search, so Korean titles, large Hangul thumbnail text, Naver Blog repurposing, strict copyright and Chuseok and Suneung timing do most of the work.
Titles and keywords in the words Korean viewers type
Korean searchers type short keyword strings in Hangul rather than full questions. Put the keywords first, keep titles short, and use the thumbnail for the emotional hook; English channels made in Korea follow Western title rules instead.
유튜브 수익창출 조건 2026 총정리
The highest-volume monetization query in Korean; the year and "총정리" signal a complete answer.
월 30만원 ETF 적립식 1년 결과 공개
A concrete monthly figure and a result-as-story; finance viewers click on numbers.
서울 맛집 추천 TOP 10 (2026)
Place, category and a countable ranking: how Korean food searchers filter.
유튜버 종합소득세 신고 방법 (5월 필독)
A yearly moment plus the exact audience and month.
Renting an Apartment in Seoul as a Foreigner (Jeonse Explained)
The expat and student audience searches in English; the Korean term in brackets is the keyword.
한국 편의점에서만 파는 것들
A curiosity hook for the Shorts feed that also travels overseas with captions.
Paste a topic into the YouTube Keyword Generator to see the exact phrases searched from South Korea, then write the title with the Video Title Generator.
Thumbnails that work for Korean viewers
Large Hangul text (four to eight characters), high contrast, and a face or the dish; Korean thumbnails carry more text than Western ones and viewers expect it. What fails is small text and English on a Korean channel.
Make the thumbnail in the Thumbnail Maker and run it through the Thumbnail Analyzer, which scores your thumbnail before you upload so you can compare two versions side by side.
Posting time in Korea Standard Time (KST)
Korean viewing peaks from 7 to 10 pm KST on weekdays, with a second peak on Sunday evenings. Japan shares the time zone; the US West Coast is 16–17 hours behind, so English channels made in Korea often post in the Korean morning to reach the US evening. The Best Time to Post tool reads your own channel's viewer activity by hour and day, which beats any general rule once you have a few weeks of data.
Local trends, festivals and sport
Seollal, Valentine and White Day, cherry blossom in April, Children's Day, the summer holidays, Chuseok, Suneung in November, Christmas and the comprehensive income tax filing in May are the reliable spikes. Publish a Chuseok travel video in early September and a tax video in April so each ranks before the search peak.
Community posts and comments in the audience's language
Repurpose each upload as a Naver Blog post with the thumbnail and a summary; Korean audiences discover channels through Naver search more than in most markets. Community posts with polls keep subscribers between uploads.
Collaborations with Korean creators at your size
Collaborate with creators at your size in your niche. Two 5,000-subscriber channels appearing in each other's videos each gain a new audience; a shout-out from a million-subscriber channel rarely moves subscribers. Korean creator communities on Naver Cafe and Discord are where these start.
Playlists and end screens
Group videos into playlists named with the search phrase, not a clever title, so the playlist itself ranks. Put the next video in the series on the end screen; a session that continues on your channel is the strongest signal you can send.
What the algorithm actually rewards
YouTube recommends videos that viewers watch for longer, rate as satisfying in surveys, and come back to. It does not reward upload frequency on its own, tags on their own, or keyword stuffing. Read the plain-language breakdown in the YouTube algorithm guide and check each upload with the Video SEO Checker before it goes live.
YouTube Shorts в South Korea
Shorts as a monetization lane for Korean creators
Shorts in South Korea reach the fan-funding tier at 3 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days and full monetization at 10 million, counted as engaged views; Shorts carry strong reach in Korea and travel overseas with captions, which makes the lane realistic for food, beauty and curiosity channels.
- 3 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days for the fan-funding tier; 10 million for full monetization.
- Qualified means engaged views: the viewer stays past the first seconds, and loops are not counted.
- Engaged views sit in YouTube Analytics and run below the dashboard view count.
- From 1 February 2027 new applicants for ad revenue need 20 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days.
- 3,000 qualified public watch hours in 12 months for the fan-funding tier; 4,000 for full monetization.
- Public uploads, podcasts and archived live streams count; Shorts watch time does not.
- Hours are checked over a rolling 12 months, so old public videos keep contributing.
- From 1 February 2027 new applicants for ad revenue need 8,000 qualified watch hours in 365 days.
A channel qualifies on whichever lane it fills first. Korean creators have a high long-form RPM and strong Shorts reach, so Shorts are best used to find new viewers at home and abroad and send them to long-form, while food, beauty and curiosity channels can still reach 3 million engaged Shorts views before 3,000 watch hours.
Local Shorts tactics
- Burn Korean captions into the frame, and add English captions when the topic travels; most Shorts are watched without sound on the subway.
- Use only copyright-safe audio; K-pop rights holders claim fast and a claimed Short counts for nothing.
- Three specific hashtags in Hangul beat ten generic ones.
- Cut every long video into two or three Shorts that stand alone, and pin the long-form link in the comment.
- Watch engaged views in Analytics, not the dashboard count; loops and the first seconds do not count toward the 3M and 10M thresholds.
Shorts RPM is far lower than long-form everywhere (third-party benchmarks put it around 0.03–0.15 USD per 1,000 views), so treat Shorts as the lane that builds subscribers and feeds long-form, not as the main earner. Read how Shorts monetization works for the revenue-share rules.
Write hashtags in your audience's language with the Shorts Tags Generator, pick a title with the Shorts Title Generator, see what is rising in Trending Shorts Ideas and score each Short with the Shorts SEO Checker.

Requirements and the 1 February 2027 change
In South Korea you can join the YouTube Partner Program at 1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 qualified watch hours or 10 million qualified Shorts views; the fan-funding tier at 500 subscribers is also available. From 1 February 2027 new applicants for ad revenue need 8,000 hours or 20 million Shorts views.

Thresholds as published on the YouTube Partner Program: обзор и условия участия and Обзор расширенной YouTube Partner Program pages, checked 22 октября 2026 г.. South Korea appears on the standard YPP availability list, on the expanded (500-subscriber) list, and on the Super Chat and Super Stickers list.
days until the ad-revenue threshold doubles
Apply before 1 February 2027 and your channel is reviewed on 4,000 hours / 10M Shorts views. After that date new applicants need 8,000 hours / 20M Shorts views. The date that matters is when the application reaches YouTube, not when the reviewer decides; review takes about a month and a rejection means a 30-day wait before reapplying, so December is the last month with room for one retry. Announced by YouTube on 10 August 2026 (YouTube blog). The subscriber count and the 500-subscriber fan-funding tier do not change.
What counts as qualified
Counts
Does not count
- Приватные, доступные по ссылке и удалённые видео
- Прямые эфиры без архивации
- Просмотры, полученные, пока видео или Short показывается как реклама
- Публикации с изображениями, которые появляются в ленте Shorts

Что сокращает путь
Actions that add qualified hours and views, not promises
Nothing on this list promises approval. Each item is an action that adds qualified watch time or engaged Shorts views to your channel, and names the tool that performs it.
South Korea
Getting paid in won
AdSense for YouTube pays creators in South Korea by wire transfer to a Korean bank account or by check once the balance reaches 100 USD; EFT is not listed for Korea, so the bank receives the wire and converts to won at its rate.
Payment methods available в South Korea
| Method | Currency and arrival | Best for and what to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Wire transfer to a Korean bank | USD; up to 15 business days after issue (21st–26th) | Almost every creator in Korea. Any KB, Shinhan, Woori, Hana, NH or similar account that accepts inbound SWIFT wires; the bank converts to won at its rate and may charge an inbound remittance fee. A foreign-currency account lets you choose when to convert. |
| Check | USD; 2–4 weeks in the mail, then bank clearing | Rarely the right choice; foreign checks take weeks to clear and carry collection fees. Use only if a wire is impossible. |
| EFT, Hyperwallet | Not listed for South Korea | Not available for YouTube payments in South Korea on the AdSense country table as of October 2026. |
Methods as listed in the Способы получения платежей AdSense по странам table for YouTube payments, checked 22 октября 2026 г.. Arrival times from Сроки выплат AdSense для YouTube.
Wire transfer is the working route. South Korea is not on the EFT list, so AdSense sends a SWIFT wire in US dollars. Your bank receives it, may ask you to confirm the purpose of the remittance in the app or at the branch, and converts to won at its rate. Ask the branch for the SWIFT/BIC code and whether the account accepts inbound foreign remittances.
Foreign-currency accounts. A USD account at a Korean bank lets the wire land without conversion so you can exchange when the rate suits; a won account converts on arrival. Either way, keep the remittance advice; it is the record the National Tax Service will want.
Name matching. The AdSense payee name must match the account holder exactly, including the romanisation; a mismatch between the Hangul name at the bank and the romanised name in AdSense is the usual reason a Korean wire is returned. Enter the name the way the bank prints it for international transfers.
Set up AdSense for YouTube payments step by step
- 1
Reach the payment-method selection threshold
AdSense lets you add a payment method once your balance passes a small verification amount; add it well before you expect to cross the 100 USD (or local-currency equivalent) payment threshold.
- 2
Add a wire transfer to a Korean bank account
In AdSense → Payments → Manage payment methods, choose the method and enter the bank name, the SWIFT/BIC code, the account number, and the account holder's name exactly as the bank prints it for international transfers. The beneficiary name must match the AdSense payee name exactly.
- 3
Verify your address with the PIN
Google mails a PIN to your South Korea postal address once you reach the verification threshold; enter it in AdSense within four months or payments pause.
- 4
Verify your identity
Upload a government-issued ID in the payee's name when AdSense asks; the name on the ID, the AdSense account and the bank account must all match.
- 5
Submit your tax information
Open AdSense → Payments → Manage settings → United States tax info and complete the form the guide selects for you so withholding is applied at the correct rate for your country.
- 6
Watch the monthly timeline
Earnings finalize around the 3rd, payment details lock on the 20th, and payments are issued between the 21st and 26th; track your balance toward the threshold from the Channel Analyzer.
ToolChannel Analyzer
The monthly payment timeline
Common holds and how to clear them
Address verification (PIN)
Google mails a PIN once you reach the verification threshold; enter it in AdSense. If it does not arrive after three requests, use the document-based option.
Identity verification
Upload a government ID that matches the payee name exactly. A mismatch between the AdSense name and the bank account name is the most common wire rejection.
Tax information
Submit the form in AdSense → Payments → Manage settings. Without it, 24% backup withholding applies to worldwide earnings for individuals.
Payment method missing
Add it before the 20th of the month you expect to cross the threshold.
Worked example: a 100 USD payment arriving в South Korea
Example only. A 100 USD payment issued on the 24th by wire reaches your Korean bank within 15 business days. The bank may ask you to confirm the remittance purpose, deducts any inbound fee, and converts to won at its rate on that day if the account is in won, so the won figure depends on that day's rate and the bank's spread. Keep the remittance advice with the AdSense receipt.
Estimate how views translate to revenue by country with the YouTube Money Calculator; compare countries in the RPM by country guide.

Tax and legal basics for Korean creators
YouTube income in South Korea is reported in the May comprehensive income tax filing (jonghap sodeukse), regular creators register a business (saeopja deungnok), foreign-remittance records must be kept, and the W-8BEN in AdSense with the Korea–US treaty claim reduces withholding on US-viewer earnings.
How it is classified. AdSense income is business or other income reported in the comprehensive income tax return filed each May for the previous year. Creators earning regularly register a business (사업자등록) with the National Tax Service; the registration type affects VAT treatment and deductions, so confirm with a tax accountant (세무사).
VAT and foreign income. AdSense income from Google's overseas entity is generally treated as a zero-rated export of services for VAT once you are registered, while brand deals with Korean companies are taxable supplies. The bank's foreign-remittance records are the evidence for the export treatment.
The form inside AdSense. Submit the W-8BEN as a Korean individual and claim the Korea–US tax treaty; the treaty reduces the rate on earnings from US viewers below the 30% default, and the exact rate is shown in the AdSense tax tool. Earnings from Korean and other non-US viewers are not withheld. Without any form, 24% of worldwide earnings is withheld.
Record-keeping. Keep every AdSense receipt, remittance advice and bank statement, plus receipts for equipment, software and a share of home costs. The National Tax Service receives foreign-remittance data from banks, so the records should reconcile.
The form inside AdSense is the W-8BEN. Fill it before the first payment so withholding matches your treaty position.
Official page: National Tax Service. US withholding rules for creators outside the US: Налоговые требования США к доходам на YouTube.
Keep these records
AdSense payment receipts

Brand-deal invoices and contracts
Taxable supplies with Korean companies; keep them separate from AdSense.
Equipment, software and home-office receipts
Cameras, microphones, editing software, internet and a share of rent are the usual deductions; ask your 세무사.
Сколько платит YouTube в South Korea
Realistic earnings for Korean audiences
Third-party benchmarks put long-form RPM for Korean audiences at about 5–8 USD per 1,000 views in October 2026, with Shorts at 0.03–0.15 USD; English content made in Korea for overseas viewers is paid at the US, UK and Australian rates of those viewers.
| Scenario | Long-form | Shorts |
|---|---|---|
| Benchmark RPM per 1,000 views | 5–8 USD | 0.03–0.15 USD |
| 100,000 views, mostly Korean audience (illustrative) | about 500–800 USD | about 3–15 USD |
| 100,000 views, mixed audience incl. US/UK (illustrative) | higher, because the US and UK share is paid at 5–12 USD RPM | about 3–15 USD |
Industry estimate, окт. 2026, varies by niche and season. Illustrative rows multiply the benchmark range by views; they are not earnings data from any channel.
RPM is what a creator receives per 1,000 views after YouTube's share; CPM is what advertisers pay. Korean-audience RPM is high because Korean advertisers bid heavily for a connected, high-income audience. Finance, beauty and travel content attracts the highest-paying ads, games and entertainment the lowest, and a video over eight minutes with mid-roll ads out-earns a short one with the same views. Super Chat is a meaningful share of income for Korean live-streaming channels.
Audience country matters more than creator country. A creator в South Korea whose viewers are mostly in the US, UK, Australia or Canada is paid at those countries' rates, which is why English-language content on Korean language, K-beauty and Korea travel tends to show a higher RPM than local-language content with the same view count.
Shorts are paid from a shared pool and typically show 0.03–0.15 USD RPM. Long-form videos over eight minutes can carry mid-roll ads, which is the single biggest lever on long-form RPM.

Income beyond ad revenue
Beyond ad revenue, creators in South Korea have memberships, Super Chat and Super Thanks available with the fan-funding tier, and brand deals with Korean companies, affiliate programs and Naver-linked commerce add to it.
Memberships, Super Chat and Super Thanks
All available to Korean channels with the fan-funding tier at 500 subscribers, and Korean live-stream audiences use Super Chat heavily. Fans pay in won; your share arrives through AdSense.
Brand deals with Korean companies
Cosmetics, food, games, telecoms and finance brands work with creators, often through MCNs and agencies. Rates are quoted per video in won; invoice with the correct VAT treatment and keep a media kit with your Channel Analyzer numbers.
Affiliate programs that pay in won
Coupang Partners and Naver-linked programs pay to Korean accounts; disclose paid links in the description and in the video (유료광고 표시).
YouTube Shopping
Tag products from your own store or an affiliate program in videos and Shorts. Available with the fan-funding tier where Shopping is offered.
Brand deals
Brands price deals on views and audience country. Keep a one-page media kit with your Channel Analyzer numbers and quote in your local currency plus USD.
Affiliate links
Programs that pay to local bank accounts avoid a second currency conversion. Disclose paid links in the description and in the video.
Digital products and courses
A template, preset, PDF or course sells to a small audience well before ad revenue is meaningful. Sell through a platform that pays out in your currency.

Ошибки, из‑за которых каналы в South Korea стоят на месте
Mistakes that stall Korean channels
The patterns that stall Korean channels are K-pop and broadcast clips, portrait-rights violations, English titles for a Korean audience, a romanisation mismatch at the bank, reused content without commentary, fake views from view-selling sites, and hiding old videos before approval. Each has a fix.
K-pop music or broadcast clips
Rights holders claim within hours and strikes follow. Fix: your own footage, commentary over still images, and Audio Library music only.
Filming bystanders without blurring
Korean portrait-rights norms are strict and complaints can remove videos. Fix: blur faces and licence plates, and get consent from anyone featured.
English titles for a Korean audience
Korean viewers search in Hangul. Fix: Hangul keywords first, English only on an English channel.
Romanisation mismatch at the bank
A wire to an account whose romanised name differs from the AdSense payee name is returned. Fix: enter the name exactly as the bank prints it for international transfers.
Reused content without commentary
Reuploads with nothing added are the most common rejection reason. Fix: your own voice, framing and analysis, with permission where needed.
Fake views from view-selling sites
Views from ad campaigns and view services do not count as qualified, and the pattern can get the application rejected. Fix: stop, delete nothing, and let real watch time accumulate.
Ignoring Shorts
Food, beauty and curiosity channels often reach 3 million engaged Shorts views before 3,000 watch hours. Fix: cut every long video into Shorts with Korean and English captions.
Hiding old videos before approval
Setting early uploads to private removes their watch hours the same day. Fix: leave them public until the channel is accepted.
Applying with an unverified AdSense account
Address PIN and identity checks unresolved means the review stalls. Fix: clear every AdSense notification before you submit the YPP application.

FAQ
YouTube monetization в South Korea: your questions
Short answers that stand on their own. Each restates the country and the number so it reads correctly when quoted alone.
How many subscribers do you need to start earning on YouTube in Korea?
In South Korea you need 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months or 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days for full monetization. The fan-funding tier is also available in Korea at 500 subscribers with 3,000 watch hours or 3 million Shorts views plus three public uploads in 90 days.
Does YouTube pay in won in South Korea?
AdSense issues the payment in US dollars; the AdSense table lists wire transfer and check for South Korea, and EFT is not listed. Your Korean bank receives the wire and converts to won at its rate if the account is in won, or holds the dollars if it is a foreign-currency account. Either way the money reaches a Korean bank account; there is no direct won payout.
When do YouTube earnings arrive in Korea?
AdSense finalizes the previous month's earnings around the 3rd, locks payment details on the 20th, and issues payments between the 21st and 26th if the balance on the 20th is at least 100 USD. A wire transfer to a Korean bank can then take up to 15 business days, plus any time the bank takes to confirm the remittance purpose; a check takes two to four weeks plus clearing.
How much does YouTube pay in Korea per 1,000 views?
Third-party benchmarks for October 2026 put long-form RPM for Korean audiences at about 5–8 USD per 1,000 views and Shorts at 0.03–0.15 USD, varying by niche and season. Finance, beauty and travel content sits at the top of that range, games and entertainment at the bottom, and English content made in Korea for overseas viewers is paid at those viewers' rates.
How do you file taxes on YouTube income in Korea?
YouTube income earned by a creator living in South Korea is reported in the comprehensive income tax return filed each May for the previous year, and creators earning regularly register a business with the National Tax Service, which also affects VAT treatment. Google withholds a treaty-reduced rate on earnings from US viewers after you submit a W-8BEN claiming the Korea–US treaty. This is general information, not tax advice.
Can foreigners in Korea get monetized on YouTube?
Yes. A foreign resident whose channel country is set to South Korea applies under the same thresholds as anyone else, is paid by wire to a Korean bank account, and files taxes in Korea under the same rules, with the W-8BEN completed as a Korean tax resident. Check that your visa permits the activity and the income; some statuses restrict side work, so confirm with immigration or a lawyer first.
How do I register a bank account for YouTube earnings in Korea?
Add a wire transfer in AdSense → Payments → Manage payment methods with your bank name, SWIFT/BIC code, account number and the account holder's name exactly as the bank prints it for international transfers. Verify your address with the mailed PIN, verify your identity if asked, and submit the W-8BEN claiming the Korea–US treaty. Payment is issued between the 21st and 26th once the balance reaches 100 USD.
What changes for creators in Korea on 1 February 2027?
From 1 February 2027 new applicants for ad revenue, including in South Korea, need 1,000 subscribers plus 8,000 qualified watch hours in 365 days or 20 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days, double the current 4,000 hours or 10 million views. The 500-subscriber fan-funding tier does not change, and channels already in the program keep their status.
