Made on YouTube 2026: Every New Creator Feature Explained — and How to Get Ready
YouTube held Made on YouTube 2026 on September 23, 2026, and announced more than 30 updates spanning discovery, creation, live streaming and business tools. A few are rolling out now. Most arrive over the coming months, and several start in 2027.
Most recaps list YouTube's new features for 2026. This guide goes further: for every creator-facing announcement, it covers what the feature does, when YouTube says it reaches you, and the one or two things worth doing now. It also separates pilots from launches, because that decides whether a feature is worth planning around today. We build YouSEO, a YouTube creator toolkit, so where one of our tools helps you prepare, we say so plainly.
Made on YouTube 2026, held on September 23, brought more than 30 updates. For creators, the headline items are Shorts series with seasons and episodes, posts in the Shorts feed, new Ask Studio feedback, dynamic thumbnails, video A/B testing, conversational editing, voice likeness detection, live auto-dubbing and wider Shopping.
Several of the new tools are opt-in or keep you in control. AI-powered comment moderation is opt-in, conversational editing lets you switch to manual editing at any point, and when Watch With expands, you decide which of your videos others can react to.

New Ways to Create
Shorts series: seasons and episodes (rolling out now)
Shorts series lets you organise Shorts into seasons and episodes. It builds on YouTube's existing Shows feature and adds custom thumbnails and sequential playback, so a viewer who finishes one episode can carry on to the next in order. YouTube says Shorts series began rolling out to creators on September 23 across web, mobile and TV.
This is the announcement most creators can act on today. A standalone Short ends; an episode leads somewhere, which changes how short-form content builds on itself.
What to do now: find three to five existing Shorts that genuinely belong together, organise them as a first season, and give the series a name someone might actually search for. Then plan your next Shorts as episodes. Custom Shorts thumbnails are added in YouTube Studio on a computer — we covered that in Custom Shorts Thumbnails Are FINALLY Here. To plan episode topics, Trending Shorts Topics shows what is gaining attention, and the YouTube Shorts SEO checker reviews each episode's title and description before you publish.
Posts in the Shorts feed — and on TV
YouTube says posts can now be recommended to viewers through the Shorts feed on web and mobile, putting them in front of people who do not follow you yet. In the coming months, posts are also coming to TVs.
That turns posts into a discovery surface worth treating as content in its own right.
What to do now: post between uploads — a poll, a behind-the-scenes image, a quick tip. Our guide to YouTube community posts covers what works. If the blank box is what stops you, the YouTube community post generator drafts ready-to-paste posts in your tone and language, sized to YouTube's character limits. It writes the draft; you publish it.
Conversational editing in Shorts and YouTube Create (early 2027)
YouTube is building a Gemini-powered conversational editing assistant into Shorts and the YouTube Create app. You start from a suggested or custom prompt to get a first draft, then keep chatting for suggestions such as reordering clips, trimming pauses and syncing music to the beat. You can switch to manual editing on the timeline at any point. It is scheduled for early 2027.
How to prepare: build an idea bank now — concepts, hooks and formats you want to try. When editing gets faster for everyone at once, ideas and packaging become what sets channels apart. Our guide to finding trending video ideas before they peak is a good place to start that list.
YouTube Studio Updates 2026
YouTube says Studio is becoming an end-to-end creative partner, with new tools arriving on web and mobile.
What Is Ask Studio?
Ask Studio is the AI assistant inside YouTube Studio. With this year's updates, it gives personalised feedback on video drafts — pacing, structure, storytelling and more — before you publish. It can generate thumbnails that match your channel's style, and it can work in the background to review older videos and suggest and test refreshed thumbnails. Soon, it will also help with brand deals, covered below.
What to do now: until these tools reach your channel, check your packaging yourself before uploading. The YouTube video SEO checker reviews titles, descriptions and tags so the basics are sound before a video goes live.
Dynamic thumbnails: three thumbnails per video
Dynamic thumbnails let YouTube recommend the best of three thumbnail options to different segments of your audience. That is different from YouTube's existing title and thumbnail A/B testing, available since 2024, which compares up to three versions and then shows a single winner to everyone.
What to do now: make two or three genuinely different concepts for each upload — a different emotion, text treatment or composition, not a colour tweak. Build them in the Thumbnail Maker, then compare them with Thumbnail Click Score before uploading. It scores two thumbnails head-to-head and shows which design criterion separates them — a design check, not a prediction of clicks. Create, score, upload: creators who already keep alternates on file will be ready the day the feature reaches them.
Video A/B testing: up to three cuts (coming soon)
Video A/B testing, marked as coming soon, will let you test up to three cuts of the same video to see which opening hook holds your audience best. It extends testing from the packaging into the video itself.
What to do now: when you edit, save alternate openings instead of deleting them. A different first few seconds is the most useful variant to have ready.
Insights and Research
New Insights and Research destinations in Studio help you understand past video performance and find outlier videos — the ones that behaved very differently from your usual pattern — to spark your next idea.
What to do now: start the habit before the tool arrives. Note which videos clearly broke your pattern and what was different about them. YouTube Analytics Explained walks through reading your own numbers, and Trending Video Ideas shows what is gaining traction beyond your channel.

Protecting and Managing Your Community
AI-powered comment moderation (opt-in test)
YouTube is testing AI-powered comment moderation that you opt into. Once enabled, it learns your moderation style over time and applies it to your comment section, so you spend less time clearing comments by hand. YouTube also named members-only spaces among its new ways to connect with communities, without detailing timing.
What to do now: moderate consistently. A tool that learns from your decisions can only be as coherent as the decisions it learns from.
Likeness detection adds your speaking voice
Likeness detection is YouTube's tool for spotting content that uses a creator's likeness, such as deepfakes. Later this year, YouTube will integrate speaking-voice detection with facial detection to improve match accuracy, which it describes as groundwork for broader voice protections. Likeness detection is also coming to the YouTube mobile app, so you can enrol, get match alerts and act on the go.
What to do now: if you are eligible and have not enrolled, set up likeness detection. Voice detection improves a system you need to be part of first.
YouTube Live Updates 2026
Four live-streaming changes, most of them arriving in 2027.
- Watch With expansion. Creators will be able to react live to any eligible long-form video, not only livestreams, with the rollout starting later this year. Reacting creators keep the live ad revenue and fan funding they earn; original creators get attribution, added view credit in YouTube Studio, and control over which of their videos can be reacted to.
- Live creator matchmaking. From early 2027, you will be able to browse creators who are live right now, or join a quick-match queue to be paired with similar creators for a co-stream.
- Live showdowns. Coming in 2027, co-hosts can run friendly head-to-head matchups in which viewers' chats, gifts and Super Chats move each creator's on-screen score.
- Live auto-dubbing. A pilot starting in early 2027, initially in English and Spanish, that translates a creator's speech in real time so viewers can listen in their preferred language.
What to do now: if you publish long-form videos, decide whether you want them available for live reactions once Watch With expands — YouTube says original creators control that. The rest is worth noting rather than planning around yet.
Brand Deals and YouTube Shopping
Creator Partnerships and brand-deal tools
YouTube Creator Partnerships helps brands discover creators and is now available in 20 countries. After you post a brand partnership, you can give your brand partner access with a one-click code, letting them view the video's performance and put paid media behind your content using creator partnerships boost.
Soon, Ask Studio will help you craft tailored responses to brand briefs, build proactive pitches, and get tips for customising your media kit to a brand's goals. YouTube is also continuing to test dynamic brand segments, which let you insert a sponsor segment into up to 20 long-form videos at once, target by region, and add a shelf with a call-to-action button.
What to do now: make sure your channel reads clearly to a brand arriving cold — a coherent channel page, a clear subject and recent uploads — and refresh your media kit. For the monetisation side, see YouTube Partner Program Changes 2027.
YouTube Shopping affiliate expansion
The YouTube Shopping affiliate program lets creators earn commission by tagging products in videos, livestreams and Shorts, and it is expanding to 35 countries by the end of 2026. Amazon product tagging, already available in the U.S., is expanding to India and Brazil in the coming weeks, with more countries before the end of the year.
For global audiences, product tags now show a link localised to where the viewer is watching, and you can earn commission on those international sales. New affiliate campaigns let retailers and brands offer incentives, such as exclusive commission rates or bonuses, when you create content featuring specific products.
What to do now: check whether the affiliate program is available to you, and list the products you already recommend naturally. Those are your starting point.
What Viewers Are Getting — and Why It Matters to Creators
- Custom feeds. YouTube says viewers will soon be able to design their own homepage feeds with conversational prompts. Discovery increasingly follows a viewer's stated interests, so a clear topic and clear packaging matter more.
- Ask YouTube for shopping. Ask YouTube is expanding into a product recommendation guide for viewers.
- Comments from the TV. Viewers can post comments on TV using voice input, without switching devices.
